Fasting to Overcome Addictions - Dr Moser

Fasting to Overcome Addiction - Dr Moser
From brushing our teeth in a sleepy haze to driving home at night weary with work, we repeat tasks till we perform them without thinking. Living becomes a daily routine of subconscious patterns. Study the patterns and you will discover triggers for every subconscious action. Morning sleepiness triggers the urge for a coffee. Stress triggers the urge for a cigarette. Feeling bad triggers the urge for junk food. These little prods of addiction keep us in the same routine day after day. Three coffees a day, becomes 50 thousand cups of coffee over a lifetime. Junk food eating becomes a 30-year lifestyle that equates to truckloads of candy bars.
Addiction is anything that controls you, and, whether it’s food, pornography, coffee, TV or heroin, the result is the same. Addiction destroys health and freedom. The food industry has perfected addictive foods by adding lots of salt, fats, processed sugar and artificial flavor enhancers. Once in the blood, what was a delicious treat becomes tomorrow’s craving. These daily cravings become powerful forces shaping our destiny through dictating our thoughts, emotions and actions, and deteriorating our health and discipline.
There was rich man who asked Jesus, "What must I do to enter the Kingdom?" When he was asked to sell all he had and give it to the poor; he turned away because he valued money more than following Jesus. What have you exalted above Jesus? What is it that you cannot give up? What addiction is filling the space that only Christ can fill? You can sponsor 10 children, read the Bible daily, faithfully attend church, and yet be groaning with spiritual emptiness because you are in bondage to hidden addictions.
We live in an addictive society where it is socially acceptable to be addicted to sugar, salt, caffeine, fried food, cookies, cakes and junk. Yet, no matter how small the addiction, it has to go. Even a cookie addiction can powerfully affect your life through guilt, pimples and thirty pounds of excess weight. You may say it is just a few cookies but if there is deterioration to your health, and you eat them without control, your cookie addiction needs to end.
As a heavy drug user, the high was never long enough or high enough. Every time I got high, it was a tease. I always wanted more. Drugs were supposed to make me happy but I was miserable. I never had what I wanted. Leaving you always wanting is the sneaky side of addiction. An addiction makes you feel good for a time, but, behind your back, it is stealing your self-control and making you its slave through the desire for more. ...for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him. Healthy Thought Life - Dr Moser

HEALTHY LIVING
by Dr Moser has an excellent article on healthy ways to beat addiction.
Reading this entire article is best (CLICK LINK), here are samples:

Structure
In observing people, looking for clues as to how to develop self-discipline, I was struck by a common denominator. Disciplined people create structure in their lives. A healthy, structured lifestyle, whether coming naturally or through resolute work, assuredly makes a tremendous difference in how you will feel both mentally and physically.

Nothing is built without a proper blueprint. The new structure of your life must also have a blueprint and a plan. It is time for you to draw the blueprint for your health. The structure needed to have victory over addiction should have healthy activities, be balanced and allow time for being at peace, enjoying creative pursuits and reading encouraging literature.
Examining Addictions Misconceptions
Addiction holds its position in our life through misconceptions. To quit any addiction, you have to strip away the misconception and weigh the good and the bad. Draw up a list and look seriously at what you consider the benefits of the habit.
MAKING ANGER WORK IN THE RIGHT WAY:
Anger As A Tool
A man once bought a very expensive suit for a formal occasion. On the way to the event, an ash fell from his burning cigarette onto his lap. Before he noticed it, the ash burned a hole through both the suit coat and the pants. In a rage, the man crumpled the pack of cigarettes, threw it out the window and never smoked again. Previously he had smoked three packs a day.

Anger is a powerful weapon against addictions and habits. If you can see clearly what destruction it is causing and get angry at it, you will build the determination to quit. If your decision is unshakable and resolute, you will not fail due to temptation! Make a list of all the harmful effects of your addiction and get angry.

Bobby Unser Jr: Facing Animal Cruelty Charges

Bobby must be in hell inside himself to have let animals end up like this. when i clicked and saw the horse, it made me cry. i know he used to love animals and had the most tender heart for pets, but this is only evidence of a master named meth who only seeks to KILL, STEAL & DESTROY...

God bless those who rescued the animals. God have mercy on a man who stands guilty. perhaps jail is best for him..

still my heart bleeds.

Thought: No Resolution

If you think there is no resolution with the cycle of pain going on and on, keep reading.
addict-794990.jpgYou may think that without substance to hide behind, real life tastes bad. therefore those who are functioning without become the enemy. "straights" are not to be trusted. the addict waits and tests to see if love will cover their dysfunction. then the step on a mine unbeknownst to the co-dependent and all hell breaks loose. in anger though REAL TRUTH is told. all those mean little thoughts that float beneath the POLITE and newly acquired "Sobriety." Weeks of pretending one is ok finally breaks into gloom which ruptures the reality. suddenly everything is wrong, ugly, hated, and this darkness grows into an explosion. The "sober addict" then gets it all out, or at least as much as he/she allows and is fine. meanwhile the fallout on the one who stepped on the mine (bad choice of words, a reflection of the addicts past, stressful moments, who knows what triggers the mine).

in addiction there is a carpet which covers all the dirt and junk swept underneath the surface.
the top is pretty and threaded with all the right design. yet under is poison. in fact the outward appearance is poison. for an addict only likes to show his/her pretty side. so an addict without their vice is actually more dangerous than one who is not sober. they have no control until they finally bow before the GOD (However they understand HIM) and realize they are a mess. until they actually admit to their failure to live life holistically, they will will swim in their sea of muck forever, bringing anyone down with them that they can.

it's sick. it's a sin. it is forgivable.
for they not only waste their lives but damage, wound and injure everyone else around them. i feel helpless around these people. thankful that i keep addiction at bay for I don't want to be mastered by anything other than the GOD who made me.

I fail too much sober, to even think about masking life with substance, or any other vice... think about being free right now. Get the help you need to free yourself.

Thought: after the addiction goes...

first the horrible withdrawal.

It's a nightmare in the least of what happens when the drug is gone... then the calm, the recovery... recovery turns into emptiness along with the realization that NOTHING feels the same, nor comfortable at all. one is faced with their own self image and being without substance (substitute the noun) for the first time. life smacks them in the face with the fact that while they were puffing (substitute the verb) it only smoked over, glazed and painted a false picture, really never curing anything. WAKE UP....

in fact it only put them further from the truth of being whole and able to make it the world free of substance abuse. even a year after recovery with numerous bouts of depression, anger, blame. those who are with them walk through the same minefields of those ups and downs.

it hurts. it feels bad and terrible to be the addict. The same goes for those who are with them.

no matter what the steps of recovery are or how good they may be, it won't work unless the addict him/herself actually finds their way to heal the original "sin" or wound....

as is the co-dependent - who covers and protects the one who is recovering... same cycle only less the smoke and mirrors.

HONESTY. It requires total honesty with humility from the addict.
and a willingness for the one who is co-dependent to quit enabling.

New Testament: Slave to what masters you?

more about the sermon on Sunday.

Today, don't turn away from this message or dismiss it as Christian rhetoric. It is indeed the words of life and true change. I know. I have practiced them for as long as I can remember and through some very awful storms of others addictions including my own struggles with sin.

i liked that the 12 steps were reviewed. certainly every human on earth belongs to the fallen since adam & eve. we are broken in some way - every single one. the good news is there is way to live despite the flaws. media, entertainers, liberal thinkers all try to erase this brokenness by appearing on the outside that they have their life together. from previous posts about friends, even famous ones, this is not true. it's a deception to think anyone on earth has answers.

now i know a few reading this blog may write me off because of disbelief in the adam & eve or scriptural telling of earths beginnings. if someone has anything that explains life on earth better than that, tell me about it. for now i without a shadow of a doubt know there is a God who created this world and all mankind. he is present and gave us the Scriptures to learn and live by. most of all he gave his SON to show us the way to God.

The pastor asked us all to look inside, to review our own addictions, especially if we weren't partaking of the major ones. admittance of our "sin." CLICK FOR DEFINITION OF SIN  A sin is this "Sin, then, is to transgress those boundaries God has set for us or to miss the target He set for us. Scott Ashley states in the website sited " In our struggle to avoid and overcome sin, it is vital that we understand exactly what it is. Let's see how the Bible defines sin."

in our lives we are to minimize sins that have mastery over us. i choose not to be a slave to alcohol, drugs, sex, or gambling. that came from seeing to many others fall into that nasty net of need. i do struggle with other things always working to be slave only to the righteousness of God spelled out in the holy scriptures.

A summary the four steps:

1. FIND A WAY TO FREE YOURSELF FROM SIN. Sin being a slave to something that ultimately ends in destruction on earth and into eternity. If you are in Christ (being born again by accepting Him as Savior) you are set free from sin.

2. ADMIT YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. It begins by knowing your weakness and where you are enslaved. Confess it and be cleansed.

3. CONSIDER YOURSELF DEAD TO THAT ADDICTION/SIN. If Christ be your master, then nothing can take that place. Salvation is health to the soul, mind and body.

4. DON'T LET SIN MASTER YOU. To stay clean and free one must turn your life and will over to God. DAILY: Surrender yourself to him in total trust. He is a God of life & wholeness, of blessing and righteousness.

It's all summed up in the book of Romans. Click to hear more about Book of Life

"Do not continue offering yourself to sin, but offer yourself to God. Since we are under Grace from God sin cannot have dominion over us.. READ: Romans 6:12-14

New Testament Scriptural Side of Addictions

ADDICTION: "A man is a slave to whatever has mastered him." 2 Peter 2:19

Notes from “New Testament Scriptural Side of Addictions”
by Pastor Steve Shermett @ BOOK OF LIFE:

I wonder could the word addiction be substituted for the word sin, even interchangeable? Since growing up in an addicted family - I escaped the major addictions and grapple with my own personal issues.

Since hearing the sermon on Sunday - I gleaned excellent steps to get loose from any addiction. I like that he gave us a real live symbol to remember them as keys in our pocket.

Here are the 4 Keys that I wrote down:

THERE ARE FOUR EASY STEPS TO BE FREE FROM ADDICTION IF YOU ARE CHRISTIAN.

1. According to Romans 6:17-18 WE ARE SET FREE FROM SIN! Choose to obey the truth of the Bible/Scripture that you have found in the teaching you receive, with all your heart.

2. Admit your problem. "Confess your sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins." 1 Jn. 8-9

3. "Consider yourself dead to sin and your relation to it broken, but Alive to GOD living in unbroken fellowship with Him, in Christ Jesus. (AB) Romans 6:11-12 - Being Crucified with Christ means we are dead to sin. This allows us to not let sin reign in our life... OBVIOUS: it's a daily choice, dead to sin, alive to Christ.

4. Turn your will & life over to God. We have a choice to not let sin reign as king. This means to give ourself to God surrender our entire life over to him. It is better to be slaves to righteousness than to sin....
Verse 13 reads "Do not continue offering yourself to sin, but offer yourself to God. Since we are under Grace from God sin cannot have dominion over us.. READ: Romans 6:12-14

Thought: Doomed to repeat the past?

This saying appears in many different forms,
but the earliest version is probably that of the poet and philosopher George Santayana:

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

In the verse quoted above about being "doomed to repeat the past" it neglects things that are GOOD, GREAT and WONDERFUL about our past. Seems that negative events get far too much media play inside our heads when it comes to memories.

How about thinking this way: Try to remember every good thing that happened in your life, all the people who have had positive impact for good and all the lovely things from your childhood. Write them down. Write about things you have learned, what you felt and how you have grown.

Putting things into proper perspective can clear all the dark clouds out of ones head, giving room for a breath of fresh air. I think we treat ourselves as whipping posts when it comes to mistakes and bad choices from ourselves or others. In this I myself need change.

JOURNAL: Temporary Security

8 am -
"They who would give up essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security"
Benjamin Franklin

this has many applications relevant today in society, politics. i think also the topic of "addictions" which to me is a temporary security, and a false one at that. It's stated "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." George Santayana, The Life of Reason or The Phases of Human Progress.

two statements. hand in hand. have to ponder more on this line of thought today!

8:44pm -
essential liberty is being and living free from something that controls you. something that controls you can be internal or external, by choice or by force. putting up with that control by allowing it, conforming to it or tolerating it seems only a temporary fix.

all of us find ourselves in the position of "being in control" in one way or another for various lengths of time. to me addiction is a temporary way to adjust, endure or suffer through certain circumstance. the danger of this method of endurance or escape from pain is that the substance, activity, or compulsive mindset becomes the thing in control. A human soul can submit, surrender or relinquish their self to "it". They lose being Captain of their own ship and a slave to the bottle, the blunt, work, or any other ism...

The "ism" becomes a god, the soul a worshipper. as for learning from the mistakes of the past, one only has to look through history at all the lives shipwrecked by alcohol, drug abuse, violence, gambling or sexual/physical "ism's." surely those past are a stark warning to those in the present.

it's not always so! children of addicts, often become addicts themselves. more likely they have co-dependent behaviors and are wounded by the very addiction they avoid.

so how to get both liberty and security? what can hold a person together like glue with balance and boundaries that keep them from losing control? this indeed is the quest of the blog.

i state in the header that it's about addicts, addiction and all about it, by one who is not. i may not have any of the above mentioned addictions. growing alcoholic/co-dependent family caused me to run the other way. but not without a price! i belong to the same club of "human brokenness" but have chosen to live without addictions to cover the pain. what is amazing is magnet that draws me right back into those very relationships I ran from.

here i am looking for non-judgmental ways to heal my own wounds. perhaps even help others to find their way out. it's extremely difficult to put down the sword of judgement. so daily i choose remain neutral. i practice and am getting better. understanding, wisdom and healthy curiosity feels so much better.

Ultra Dirty Keyboard - Keys to Cleansing Yourself

Cleansing Oneself Regularly
(this really does give instructions on cleaning a Mac Keyboard!)

CLICKING THE TITLE LINK GIVES REAL INSTRUCTIONS TO CLEANING KEYBOARDS!

today i am on vacation. i sat at my desk looking down at my mac keyboard wondering why the bottom row of keys were sticking. in fact many keys were giving my taps trouble. upon close examination, i noticed grime, grit and dirty keys. the left shift key was smudged and barely legible, as were the esc, tab and right enter key. The number pad was dusty, and the space bar looked like it had waves of dirt going in two thumb directions. ok, so this is my mac. no one else uses it. all this grime came from me. i have owned this for 3 years and didn't notice the poor condition of my keyboard even though i use it everyday. i am no tidy freak but i do like things clean. CLEARLY this blaringly dirty tool was telling me it needed attention.

LEARNING THE PROCESSS
i turned it upside down and shook it several times. with all the crumbs, i could have baked a cupcake.. I know it was bakery goods, cause i like to eat cookies while working. that took care of the crumbs between the keys. i looked, there weren't screws on the back to take it apart. hmmmm. what to do to clean this board? GOOGLE it: how to clean mac keyboard. Amazing, there are dozens of references to clean the clear keyboard that shows all dirt and spills. YES! Step by step instrux on how to get this filthy board clean again. FIRST UNPLUG the keyboard. it's a given.

I carefully removed each and every key placing them in a pattern to keep the order. what that revealed was even more hidden dirt, grime, hair (both doggie hair, my own ---Yuck! ) With a slight gag i realized my day would be spent cleaning up this very used thought artistic, utilitarian tool of mine that had been so neglected. i soaked the keys in a mild soapy water in groups of three: 1. number keypad 2. arrows, and function keys and 3. the main QWERTY keys. i scrubbed each one with a toothbrush and laid them out to dry on the paper towel.

At first it was a daunting task to see all the grime underneath, then having to clean all the small spaces, wipe it down and wait till things are dry. Lights came on and I knew I needed to write about this. Knowing it would take awhile to dry, i took my MacBook Pro to the coffee shop while the G5 Mac keys dried.

WHY CLEAN IS NICE
You may wonder why I write about a dirty keyboard on an addiction blog. this entire process made me think about how in life we work and work, days upon end, without a thought to the maintenance, cleansing and rebuilds of our own personhood. why i am not sure. i guess we all believe that things will take care of themselves. perhaps somethings do just that. other times it piles up. our personal grit, grime and smudge are the things we do wrong that never find resolve can build up like the dirt on the keys. infractions, broken rules, sins against others all cloud and clog ones mind. some just buy new keyboards, other throw them in the dishwasher. some take it apart piece by piece cleaning it all methodically as a reminder not to let things get so bad.

KEYBOARD AS MINDSET
i sort of thought about the keyboard as our mindset, thought life and even our words. without observing what we think and say as well as what we appear like to others it could get to looking as filthy as neglected keyboards. Thank goodness no one saw mine the way I did today. More grateful than no one seeing it is the fact that I SAW IT. I saw, then took action to make it clean and functional again. this is truth for all to realize. unfortunately most ignore the pain, the dirt, the grime, the wounds putting Band-Aids over gaping wounds... is this the root of addiction? i don't know. certainly denial that my keyboard is in need of attention wouldn't have given me a totally fresh and new board without the need to buy a new one. i learned a lot today.

FRESH & NEW
I imagine all my clean keys replaced back in their seats, ready to type and express the thoughts, art, words as well as functioning as a vehicle, a connection to the world. Perhaps, CLEANSING is something to practice all the time in my thought patterns, word-scape and attitudes. It's certainly worth practicing on a regular basis.

Clean is good thing. Now before I even work on my mac, hands will be washed and food kept at bay, at least for while. Until i fall into the laziness of forgetting the ritual of cleansing...it's a lifelong process. there are reminders everywhere. Or maybe I'll re-read this post and save myself the trouble!

Meanwhile, the keys are all in place. It's worth all the work to have sparkling, clean keys that work again.

Bobby Unser Jr: Thinking about him

if you click the link "Thinking about Bobby"
it's how i remember him. i don't have his high school photo, so next is an older bobby but he still looks alive. Now we see pictures like this: Bobby Jailed

Makes me cry.

he wasn't always what you see now on the "jailed" media blitz. of course judgement belongs to those without any faults. of course what you see right now is a result of societies ill. broken families, neglected children, teens abandoned without any guidance - all given right over to the "priests of the streets" called dealers. this could be anyone's life. enough hurt and pain drives a soul to self destruction be it quickly through suicide or a long slow one with addictions medicating itself until death with cigarettes, substance abuse, food, sex or whatever one can find to make the hurt go away....

I remember he loved animals, people and wanted as we all do a purpose and acceptance. not sure why sons don't feel that from their fathers. mothers usually try their best to give their sons plenty of love and encouragement. so when the child or teen can't find it in their own home - they wander.

durmmer.png
{Photo just an Illustration of a drummer, not Bobby}

when we were friends - he was mostly not "high", he played his drums with passion and life... he had good friends who cared for him and those who just wanted to be around a famous son. perhaps those were the ones who led him astray. long after we grew apart, i know one particular "friend" who was truly "wicked" filled with deceit coming from a very drugged up family and past. perhaps is was she who infected him with her witchy ways and claws and put her cursed poison into him that never quite went away.

i don't give excuses for why people do what they do. all of life involves choice. having a strong sense of self with tools including life guidance and purpose along with rules (ie: life expereience, religious/spiritual beliefs, etc) will save many from falling off the wayside.

Sometimes people just have to fail in order to find the truth about life. perhaps they were never allowed to experience the consequences of failure. perhaps that is why people like bobby from famous families eventually end up like he is now. things were always covered up so no one would know...

now? I pray for him.. i pray he finds God, why he was created and finds salvation from his ills.

Thought: Understand yourself

"I think of addiction as the sacred disease...Very probably, God created alcoholism in order to create AA, and thereby spearhead the community movement which is going to be the salvation not only of alcoholics and addicts, but of us all."
-M. Scott Peck, M.D.

Primary addictions recovery
requires rescuing our life and spirit from compulsive, habitual attachments to substances and behaviors. And as we discover the intricacies of recovery from a wide range of addictions, we recognize a common link among them.

What is Addiction?

Addiction is generally defined as a disease process characterized by:

continued use of a substance, behavior or process
despite physical, psychological, emotional or social harm,
progressive over time,
involving habit and compulsion
with signs of withdrawal when ceased or decreased.

Primary Addictions

  • Alcoholism,
  • Drug Addiction,
  • Food Related Addiction,
  • Gambling Addiction (including compulsive debt and spending),
  • Sex Addiction,
  • Codependency,
  • ACOA Syndrome,
  • Internet Addiction,
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Thinking/Acting (cleaning, shopping, self-diminishing, worrying, etc.)

Scripture tells us that anything in moderation is good. I believe drugs (illegal and some prescription) are not the answer to anyones pain. none of us are perfect, broken is the world full of fallen humanity. yet in all this life is sacred, love and forgiveness abounds...

life is a wonderful high in itself. if you cannot relate to this find someone to talk to about yourself. find yourself.

Know your Only Hope

this scripture is the basis of all human knowledge from the Creator of the Universe.... Unless we begin there nothing else matters. Create rather than destruct through addcition.

why not using one's energy, (even if it's anger, depression or angst) to do creative acts of art, writing, music, sculpture, gardening, caring for others, the list goes on and on..

Bobby Unser Jr: Are you out there?

This is indeed tragic.
What a waste of life from any angle. My God, what happened to this talented man that corrupted his life to the point of drugs,  animals abused worse than anyone should have to see, and a house filled with absolute chaos and despair?

TELL ME WHERE THE PEOPLE in his life were before he fell so far. He most likely has broken the heart of his mother...and despite what people think about it his father as well.

Where is our sense of humanity as citizens in this world to care about society, our neighbors? Does the drug scene carry with it the air of celebrity so much that we look the other way???

We are all to blame. its a total shame on communities who look the other way without standing against this epidemic of drug abuse... something needs to change... i feel helpless to affect any of it... save but by prayer first.

May God have mercy on the soul and life of Bobby, and his family. That the animals left to die would be taken straight to heaven or placed in the hands of loving souls.

May we all take a SOLID AND STRONG stand against the abuse and use of drugs. ANY DRUGS....I beg that we begin by cleaning our house of all addictions... GET YOURSELF WHOLE and teach others to do the same.

RELATED INFO:
Bobby Unser, Jr. was the first son of Bobby Unser and Barbara Schumaker. Although he grew up in a racing family, Bobby, Jr. was not immediately interested in the sport. As a teenager he was more interested in drums than cars. He enjoyed racing motorcycles and snowmobiles and then eventually started racing go-karts. In 1976 Bobby, Jr. made his debut at the Pike's Peak Hill Climb with his father coaching him. Bobby, Jr. did not have the same kind of success as his father at Pike's Peak and in 1978 he even ran off the road. While Unser was supportive of his son, it was difficult for him to watch someone other than an Unser win that particular race.

Bobby Unser, Jr. was very conscious of his family's history at Pike's Peak and on the racing world in general. "I used to have these weird complexes that I had to do well because of the name," Bobby, Jr. wrote in The Bobby Unser Story. "My dad and uncle have won so much it makes it hard on me. It's a good name for a race driver to have but by the same token I don't want to ride on it." Bobby, Jr. won the Western World Sprint Car Championship in Arizona and also won the Toyota Father Son Championship twice with his father.

However, Bobby, Jr. did not make a career of racing. In 1989 he started a stunt driving company called Unser Driving. He has also worked in real estate development and has done some commentating for ESPN. Bobby, Jr. resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his wife, two daughters, and son, Bobby Unser, III.

Bobby Unser Jr : Released from Jail...

this week my friend from long ago was arrested.

in jail for 11 days, released and now no where to be found. he left in his wake animals near death, some who died, and ones walking dead. METH. in the posts of the news clips most of the people crucified him for the stupidity and cruelty to those animals. he even involved his daughter as well as other things unmentionable... my God my heart sank for this story...

The forums were HOT with judgements. here is what I wrote in response:

When are all the people that do METH going to realize that IT actually makes YOU STUPID!!!!!!!!! They are stupid to begin with or they wouldn't do drugs of any kind. Unser needs to be charged with animal cruelty. What a good for nothing dirtbag. He better not get those animals back. Letting him out of jail is a travesty of justice.
MY RESPONSE:
Wednesday
"he who is without sin can throw the first rock..." every man/woman suffers at their own hand by their own choices. it's sad that talented people end up users of drugs. look at all the celebrities that are "idolized" by media and general populations who use and abuse but still remain "idols"... who knows what causes someone to travel the path of self destruction. most likely those who put them on the pedastal in the first place. get real we are all responsible for the drug epidemic by not cleaning our own houses. compasion with tough love and total repentance wins. "if my people who are called by name should humble themselves and pray I (GOD) will heal their land." don't see much humility in our country these days. just a lot of hurting people... and those who like to hurt. we are all guilty of something. for once let's focus on rebuilding and helping our fellow mankind.
compassion is something truly needed, but not as much as boundaries! The entire reason addicts find it so easy to move in our midst are all the people who allow boundaries to be moved from the beginning. addiction is the greatest ill in our society today. lack of self govening and strong character with moralistic values is next.
i knew bobby jr. many years ago - we were very good friends and I can tell you he is not the person being "brought out to the media woodshed" that he was then. i think no on in their un-celbrated life would like to have their worst nightmare out in front of the general public. The same public who crucified Christ on whim, and that a man of innocence.
as for bobby - I stand by this. on his good side, he is a really good person. What i experienced then was a young man filled with love of life, music and a very strong need for boundaries and guidence from which his famous family couldn't provide. In Exodus - God declared that unreprentant sin of parents would follow their children for up to 4 generations...
someone mentioned in these threads that his family should step in and help him... hmmmm. think about it... "am I my brothers keeper?" yes. all of humanity is a brotherhood. perhaps if those of us who were stronger and had our lives in order could reach out to those who werent' there would be no need for reahb. it could actually prevent additions to ridiculous drugs for it wouldn't be acceptable. we are all to blame for our tolerance of drug use, violence and substandard human behaviour.
Let's clean up our own houses first then help others rebuild theirs...Throwing dirt on someone who is 10 feet from their grave must really feel good to the one throwing... how does it feel to the one heading to hell? COMPASSIONATE action.. let's talk about that...
He is, and was and will always be my friend. There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Where are they all now???
last but not least, there is no excuse for the harm of animals. in fact scripture calls it a terrible sin...for we are to care for them all. Can we all agree, that is the first sign of someone who has lost their soul? No one intentionally harms creature that are in our care unless they themselves are totally lost. Knowing him before, he loved animals and would not even think of hurting them... IT'S THE METH - it's EVIL making people do stupid things.
Where were the people around him to stop that insanity? Except perhaps they too were just as insane as it appears into drugs. I do understand his ex leaving for living with an addict is indeed hell on earth... The moment that society begins to treat even a human being like bobby worse than animals is a sad thing...
the sickness of drugs, addicition and broken families is in need a deeep root canal... we have to stop just using mouthwash as the medicine... it affects not only the addict, but everyone surrounding them. when will say enough is enough? here is my blog about addiction. I welcome reasonalble and thoughtful comments...
